Aponogeton madagascarensis is the most common ‘lace’ plant in the aquarium hobby. Characterized by their naturally netted leaves, it creates texture in your planted tank. Like other aponogeton, longiplumulosus benefits from moderate lighting with heavy fertilization. Trace elements are most often what this plant becomes deficient and root tabs are very helpful. Aponogeton is suitable for large tanks primarily as it grows very quickly and can quickly overshadow other plants. These plants will flower, and subsequently melt back, but don’t worry as they grow back better than before.
